HEYTRANS was awarded the Wijs op Weg certificate during an official ceremony at the Provincial House in Leuven, by Mr Lodewijk De Witte, the Governor of the Province of Flemish Brabant and Mr Philippe Degraef, director of FEBETRA. FEBETRA and Flemish Brabant are endeavouring to ensure safe heavy transport in the province on the one hand and to lend a more positive image to road transport in Flemish Brabant on the other hand with this quality label and the associated safety charter. Road hauliers who endorse this safety charter, together with their drivers, will receive the Wijs op Weg quality label for the period of one year. The certificate was awarded for the first time on 15 December. HEYTRANS has also been investing in the permanent training of its drivers for some time now.
At present, HEYTRANS will be one of the first road hauliers to bear the Wijs op Weg logo on all of its vehicles.
HEYTRANS actively contributes to a safer and more viable traffic situation.
HEYTRANS signed the Wijs op Weg safety charter and thus is committed to effectively contribute to safer and more courteous traffic.
FEBETRA and the Province of Flemish Brabant are working towards safer traffic.
Wijs op Weg is a joint initiative of FEBETRA and the Province of Flemish Brabant. Their aim is to work towards safer freight traffic on the road on the one hand and a more positive image of the transport industry on the other hand. In a press release, FEBETRA and the Province of Flemish Brabant pointed out that the increased freight road transport has important consequences as regards traffic safety. Statistics show that on average road accidents involving trucks result in more fatalities or gravely wounded persons in comparison with other transport modes. FEBETRA and the Province of Flemish Brabant explain that the human factor is increasingly considered a safety component in the transport system, next to technology and infrastructure, and that it is therefore important to encourage a safety culture in companies.
The Wijs op Weg certificate, which was awarded for the first time this year, will be issued every year in December. It will be valid for the period of one year. |
